They grow up so fast……

Our once cute, little, tasty lettuce is growing up.  And…it’s bolting…fast!  And… there is nothing we can do to stop it!   When lettuce “bolts” it sends up a flower stalk which then goes to seed.  This usually happens when the weather gets hotter.  And when lettuce bolts, the leaves become bitter and that source for tender salad you were enjoying is no longer.  The upside is that after it flowers, the lettuce produces seeds, which you can then harvest and use for your next crop.  Isn’t nature crafty?  Here is more info on how to harvest the seeds and eat free lettuce for the rest of your life!
